My Skills
A Cloud Engineer and Technologist with almost 20 years experience in IT Services. I started my career as an IT Application Support Consultant supporting Windows and Unix OS and then moved into an Infrastructure Engineer role expanding my knowledge into Virtualisation, Storage and Storage Fabric Networking. I eventually decided to specialise in Private Cloud technology, with my main area of expertise being the vSphere suite of Private Cloud products from VMware. More recently I have expanded my knowledge into the Public Cloud space focusing on Amazon AWS technologies and am planning on exploring the Public Cloud space further to work towards specialising in Hybrid Cloud Solutions.

With almost 20 years of experience of working in Enterprise IT in both the Public and Private sector, I have been involved in multiple complex projects, ranging from Application Migration to Cloud, Data Centre consolidation, Physical to Virtual (P2V) and Virtual to Virtual (V2V) migrations. My experience and attention to detail has required me to undertake some of the most difficult and intricate tasks associated with the demands of multi-tenancy, Private Cloud infrastructure. Whilst my focus is mainly on Engineering, Deployment, Support and Disaster Recovery, I am also well versed in architecting and solutioning platforms as well as capacity planning and performance analysis.
I also have over 10 years of Storage and Backup experience, working on most of the well known enterprise storage and backup solutions. I have been involved in multiple storage migration and consolidation projects as well as backup infrastructure implementation and management. Further to this I am also proficient in Storage Networking across mu;ltiple mediums such as traditional fiber networks, iSCSI, NFS and VSAN.
As previously mentioned, I am often tasked with more complex projects and an example of recent work that I have undertaken involved me migrating legacy workloads from end of life vSphere Platforms into a purpose built fully supported and maintaned vCloud Director platform using vCloud Director Availability, and harnessing the vRealize Automation toolset to streamline the migration process, whilst at the same time migrating the workloads from a legacy traditional network into an NSX virtualised network. The outcome of this being that the maintenance and support of the legacy workloads was also then able to be accesssed globally rather than locally resulting in greater levels of support for the clients and all carried out with zero downtime!
